A rescued, (heavily) repaired and re-purposed industrial robot which previously worked for a water company. Now enjoying retierment as an artist. This project is a collaboration with generative artist Soulwire.
DADA (Dynamic Autonomous Drawing Agent) is a drawing robot with deliberately incomplete motion control software. This means that the drawings it creates are emergent interpretations of the original images, distorted by the shape of the robot’s body, its mechanical actuators and its current location on the page. This leads to a non-random but difficult to predict drawing style which, like in human artists, is unique to this robot.
DADA was a precursor to Bartleby, a drawing robot I was commisioned to create more recently with Juneau Projects, based on a similar concept.
Please visit the DADA’s gallery for more works by the robotic artist.
