Welcome to the website of Dr. Ad (Adam) Spiers. I’m an associate research scientist in the GRAB Lab at Yale University. My research focuses on robotic grasping, haptic navigation and upper limb prosthetics. Previously I worked in tele-operation, surgical robotics and the study of human motion. I have also been involved in a number of collaborative creative projects, using robotics and technology to create art installations.

For some examples of what I work on have a look at the Research and Creative Projects section of this website.

I’m much better at building robots than websites, so apologies for missing content, dead links, glitchy pictures etc. If you are desperate to find out about something in particular then feel free to contact me.

I’m also a DJ, and founder of the night Sunken Disco. If you arrived here via that route – well, this is what I do when I’m not behind the decks!
